The proprietors at The Grey Bull offer a warm welcome
Best place we stayed. As we were such a large group we had booked the entire hotel. From start to finish the stay was excellent. The place is immaculate with everything you could wish for and a simply exemplary breakfast. I cannot recommend this place highly enough!
We visited here during a cycle trip around Northumberland. The accommodation is excellent, the breakfast was wonderful with a comprehensive choice of cereals, juices and spreads. I can’t fault the service and the rooms are modern and fresh. Well worth a stay if you’re needing accommodation in Haltwhistle.
My husband and I stayed here two nights while exploring Hadrian’s Wall and it was just perfect. The room was comfortable, clean, and spacious. The bathroom was huge, bigger than what I’ve got at home! Breakfast was delicious with lots of hot options made to order. The parking lot in back was also a nice perk. Very friendly owners/staff…
This was a super place to stay for a few nights while walking Hadrian’s Wall. Gary was really friendly and helpful with information, luggage storage and dinner suggestions. Our room was nicely decorated and the beds were the most comfortable of the 4 places we stayed while walking the wall. But the breakfasts were the true highlight. So many choices and cooked to order…
We stayed at the Grey Bull for two nights while hiking Hadrian’s Wall and we all agreed that it was the best place we stayed on that trip. The rooms are spotless and charming, the full English breakfast and all alternatives is excellent and for those who like porridge, theirs is the best. Porridge must be ordered the night before so that the oats can be soaked overnight. The proprietors live in the hotel so they are always available and they are the nicest possible people. Very friendly and helpful…
Booked into the Grey Bull the night that England beat Columbia and we watched the game on Garys 70″ TV. Everything you need in a good B&B. Good location, comfortable room and power shower. Easy bus routes to Hadrians Wall. Kathryn serves a delicious breakfast. Equally good whether you want a full English or a Continental. Just remember that the Grey Bull is a B&B and not a pub but after a thirsty day the Black Bull is just up the road. An excellent 5star B&B.
This is a nice, traditional B&B with comfortable rooms, great breakfasts, and very friendly, helpful hosts. Our cozy double room was very clean, had good storage and a surprisingly spacious bathroom. Wifi worked well throughout and there was a big common lounge (with PC, printer, movie collection and huge tv) downstairs. Breakfast was a highlight – plenty of options, good quality and kept us going for hours!
Location is nice and quiet at night, but very central with easy access to bus, town center and station. Our room had nice countryside views.
We really appreciated all the little touches offered here (tea on arrival, ride to/from the station, toiletries, etc) and the feeling of genuine hospitality. An excellent value for money – we enjoyed our stay and hope to visit again!
Managed to get booked in here at short notice as we were walking Hadrians wall when a storm was due so took refuge here. We were actually collected by Gary from the car park just off the wall who could not do enough for us. We were greeted with tea coffee and cakes on our arrival as we obviously looked worn out! We sat and had a good chat with Gary who I have to say is a very nice guy. We were shown our rooms which were very comfy with ensuite. Comfy beds tea coffee kettle etc in rooms.
Breakfast was very good with a spread of cereals fruit yogurts etc and choice of full English which we were very grateful of. Gary even took us back to the car park for us to continue our walk so we bought him a beer or 2. Thank you Gary
Overall a very nice place with Gary and his wife and breakfast staff making you feel very welcome…
They Grey Bull was the perfect stopover for weary walkers – with its comfortable rooms, friendly welcome and outstanding breakfast (really outstanding!) as well as being close to cosy pubs with good food, I can safely recommend it to fellow hikers. As Haltwhistle is some miles away from Hadrians path, we particularly appreciated our hostess’s offer to drive us back to our starting point after breakfast! Furthermore, having left my camera either in the hotel or in the car that morning, I was delighted to find it with my luggage at my next point of call that same evening!
We stayed at the Grey Bull Hotel in Haltwhistle at the tail end of a rainy couple of hours of hiking. It was such a pleasure to arrive at the Grey Bull where we were greeted by a warm and friendly staff member who took great care of us, showing us to our rooms and letting us know where we could eat and go out.
The rooms were clean, breakfast was amazing and they went above and beyond when I left my charger plugged into the wall and they sent it through to my next destination. Wonderful all around.
